Rating the condition of golf equipment properly is something we take very seriously. We work hard to ensure you are fully satisfied with the club you receive and that its condition meets or exceeds your expectations.

Every product listing we make will include accurate, clear pictures alongside our appraisal of the club. Additionally if there is anything notable or exceptional about the condition of the club which might not be captured clearly in the pictures, we will include reference to it in the description field of the item.

Below we have provided guidelines on how we rate our clubs.

Excellent

These items have no real sign of previous use. They might be well looked after ex demo items or clubs/shafts which have been used just a handful of times. Any signs of use are very light and only noticeable on close inspection.

Good

These items are visibly used. They have been well looked after but you will see ball strike marks to clubfaces, turf interaction on the sole of the club, light marks on shafts from going in and out the bag some light dinks on irons from hitting each other in the bag. We recommend GOOD as our best value line where you will be pleased overall with the aesthetics and more importantly the price!

Fair

These items show a little bit more use and whilst they will look good at address at closer inspection you will see things like

  • ball strike marks high on the face of woods and scratches/scuffs on crown (but nothing which penetrate the paintwork)
  • stone chips on irons (which are not on leading edge and do not impact ball striking)
  • bag rub on shaft which may eat into the graphite a little

Poor

Typically we attempt to avoid obtaining Poor graded clubs through our trade in initiatives. However we still receive a small number from time to time. These items typically include:

  • skymarks and marks to the crown which have penetrates the paintwork and very clearly visible. There may also be small dents in the heads
  • stone chips on irons, some of which are substantial in size and may be close to the leading edge
  • ball 'penny' marks on irons / chrome splitting and peeling / grooves fading
  • extensive bag rub on shafts
